Symphony NH
The Stockbridge Theatre is thrilled to partner with the award-winning SYMPHONY NH this season to present two unique evenings of classical and contemporary music.
On November 10, Symphony NH premieres Grammy Award winning jazz trumpeter and composer Wynton Marsalis’s acclaimed A Fiddler’s Tale. A modernized version of Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale, an iconic tale of fame, fortune and the devil. Blues, Jazz, tangos, rags, waltzes, classical music – and more -are heard in this updated story of love, greed, and Faustian bargains. Guest Artist Danny Rivera will join Symphony NH in the role of the narrator.
On March 4, acclaimed vocalist Corrine Byrne returns to Symphony NH to reprise her role in Sarah Kirkland Snider’s Penelope, an evocative and moving song cycle inspired by Homer’s The Odyssey. Praised by Gramophone Magazine as “One of the most powerful expressions of the indie classical style” Penelope is “a meditation on memory, identity and what it means to come home.”
